The 2025 Public Health Research Day will be held from 1 – 3 pm on May 7, 2025 at the Price Center Ballroom East. This year’s event will include trainee-centric networking opportunities. 

We invite UC San Diego and Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health community members to attend and discuss the research posters with the presenters. Light refreshments will be served.

Call for Abstracts

The abstract submission portal is open through 11:59 pm on April 2, 2025. We encourage trainees and research staff to submit their research as we strive to showcase the talents of our dynamic and diverse community. To be considered for the poster session, please submit a structured abstract online.

Volunteer Mentors Needed

To make this year’s event meaningful for trainees and research staff, we are seeking volunteers who will serve as leads for 30-minute, small-group, roundtable discussions throughout the afternoon. When registering for the event, please indicate your willingness to lead one of the following discussions — or suggest a new one. You may also contact the trainee networking subcommittee chair, Carrie Goldsmith at cgoldsmith@health.ucsd.edu

Potential topics include:

Career Pathways in Public Health: Career opportunities, how to navigate different career tracks (e.g., academia, government, NGOs, private sector).

Building a Research Network: How students can connect with faculty, researchers and professionals in public health; effective strategies for finding mentors and collaborators.

Internships and Research Opportunities: Finding research assistantships, fellowships or internships; skills to highlight when applying for these positions.

Graduate School: Factors to consider when researching graduate programs; tips for applying.

Work-Life Balance and Resilience in Public Health Careers: Managing stress and burnout in a demanding field; strategies to maintain motivation and passion for public health work.

Poster Printing

We have dedicated resources to print posters for Public Health Research Day. Once an abstract is accepted for presentation, first authors will receive email instructions on how to submit their poster for printing and delivery to the Price Center Ballroom East.
