Center of Excellence in Women's Health Recently Launched 

  • A new Center of Excellence (COE) in Women's Health was launched in Winter 2020.
  • The mission of the COE is to improve women’s health across a lifespan, ranging from reproductive and gynecologic issues to chronic diseases of aging. Of particular interest will be to study conditions where there are significant biological differences between the sexes in rates of susceptibility, symptoms, and response to treatment.

  • STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Desiree Santos, a research intern for the SDSU/UCSD Cancer Partnership Scholars Program (PSP) was featured in an Instagram post to celebrate her success in cancer research, graduation from SDSU, acceptance into the SDSU MPH program in Epidemiology, and her future goal of becoming a doctorally-trained epidemiologist in the future. Ms. Santos is interning with HWSPH faculty members, John Bellettiere, PhD, MPH, and Andrea LaCroix, PhD, MPH.

  • FACULTY SPOTLIGHT: Congratulations to John Bellettiere, PhD, MPHAndrea LaCroix, PhD, MPH, and Michael LaMonte, Phd, MPH (University at Buffalo), who recently received the US Paul Dudley White International Scholars Award at the American Heart Association (AHA) Epidemiology and Prevention | Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health 2020 Scientific Sessions in Phoenix, Arizona. This award was in recognition for their abstract, "Steps-per-day and Cardiovascular Disease Mortality in Older Women: the OPACH Study".  Read more.
